I was pretty happy when I saw this place being gutted earlier this spring. I go by it at least 2 times a day and its embarrassing condition was exponentially amplified by its prime location. It stood out like a sore thumb for years, which made no sense since it was in a such a great location in the Southside of all places.

As for the other side of 10th street, the one major garbage looking property that still remains is that old cement plant parcel wedged in between Carson and the train tracks. I know there was a proposal a while back to build a natural gas station there, but that ship has sailed since the one went in at Station Square. The problem is I don't know what would be a good use for the site, its too close to the active CSX tracks for residential and kind of out of the way for retail as well.
