I only heard of Greentree...I grew up in Pgh but I have no idea what Greentree is like, I found a few interesting rentals that seem too good to be true..and I plan on coming up as soon as the relocation dept calls us to set up our flight/hotel agenda...so what is Greentree like? Thanks in advance!!!

Very suburban, very well kept. Easy access to I-279. Very close to Mt Lebo. For whatever reason, has a large Eastern Indian population. When we were looking we noticed that rent/price of homes was very affordable in that area too.

Green Tree, along with Dormont and Castle Shannon are in the Keystone Oaks School District. Besides knowing a friend who went to KO, I really don't know much about the schools in the district. I do see that Green Tree's adjacency to Mt. Lebanon has already been mentioned, which does have some reasonably priced rentals (Uptown end closer to PGH), and well regarded schools.

Thanks...I am just trying to find out more about Greentree incase there are no clean decent rentals open when we come up there...I have included Bethel Park on my list as well as some North Hills areas too..I just wish there was some sort of property management place or some kind of business that helped you find a place to live, I found on the east side, but we do not wish to live on that side of town...thank you.

KO is a very good school. I had friends that graduated there or even went there before going to Montour School

Yeah Keystone Oaks School District is pretty solid. In Greentree I'd imagine the feeder school would be Aiken, which is right near Parkway Center Mall on Greentree Road. I was looking for rentals about a year and a half ago, and Greentree is probably one of the most affordable places to live when you take into account safety and a nice environment to live, which basically every area in Greentree provides. Just be careful, Greentree is right next to the city and for school district purposes make sure you're living outside of the city, because I know that the PGH/Greentree border is sorta awkward.

THanks! i appreciate that! We found a lovely home in one of the best areas of Mt lebo for a amazing price...we lucked out I guess...will be there for awhile till we can buy, we may even buy the home we will be renting one day...or another in the area...

I appreciate the help...now all we have to do is get in touch with the relo service and set up the date for the movers to come pack us up and move it!!!

Thanks to everyone who posted here, and a happy holidays---merry christmas and safe new year to all! We will up there next week preparing things for the movers...I can't wait to get back to pgh again, for good!

I have considered living in Dormont (I like this old suburbs were you can actually walk around and use public transportation) but searching more about KO school district made me say no. Their scores are lower than Brashear's now, and it just makes me wonder why?
