That drive from Mt. Washington to the airport is going to get real tired real quick for you. The Parkway (376) drive will be a pain in the ass. However, live and learn!! You may want to look for something cheap close to the airport and do some further research/visiting other pockets of Pgh over weekends on your own after you've relocated.

thanks, i noted the roads to use, that'll be the next technicality to tackle. the garage isn't a necessity at all at this point - this is my first job and first apt outside of college so i've got no problem starting small

If you get off at Carnegie there are a handful of very convenient back routes that will get you home.
