I live on a cul-de-sac and generally feel 100% safe. However, I feel I would be doing a disservice to myself and my privacy by allowing my home or belongings to be open to the general public. You can do simple things to protect yourself. Something as simple as a locked door could deter someone who was looking for an easy break in. Things happen EVERYWHERE. I don't care if you live in a gated community or in the middle of a known, dangerous neighborhood. Walking around basically saying, "I'm sooooooooooo safe, it can't happen to me!" is just purely naive.

So there's been a recent spate of car break-ins along and east of Herron Avenue in Polish Hill, FYI. Anyone in/around the Rock Room Bar especially should keep their cars locked at all times, and valuables should be removed or out of sight.
