Unfortunately airports like STL, CLE, PIT, or CVG is not as important as it once was. Even Chicago will diminish in relative importance to the air system in favor of LAX and IAD, LAX, JFK ,SFO, ATL and other airports near the border or ocean. Profitability is dependent on international flights.

Medium size hubs (1% to 0.25% of nations traffic), with airports that have diminished in importance highlighted.

I like flying out of Hobby. It's a small airport, much like the old PIT terminal, but manageable. Only problem is all its runways are shorter than PIT's shortest. Landings are fun, they really hit the reverse thrust when landing.

Yes, the people living in the Regional Transportation District voted in favor of taxes for the light rail system. We vote on all our taxes here in CO.

Back to the original subject, because this is one that was brought up before, but what makes a "world city"? I would think that a large population base is an essential requirement, and that pretty much eliminates Pittsburgh out of the gate.

(Not to say that being a "world city" is even a desirable status. Based on COL and other logistical issues, I would say that it's not).
