Because there are a lot of spiteful comments coming from people who either don't like the Steelers, or who like the Pirates and/or Penguins better. I like football the most of all sports; therefore I'm a barbaric redneck in the eyes of many faux intellectuals. I like the Steelers the best of all Pittsburgh sports teams; therefore I'm a dinosaur, even though I'm only in my 30s.

The reason there's more positive attention focused on the Pirates and Penguins than the Steelers is because the Steelers are currently the worst of the three professional sports teams in Pittsburgh. Despite that, they still get the highest ratings, which just goes to show you that football is still king in Pittsburgh. And Pittsburgh isn't the only city like that either; the Texas Rangers went to the World Series in 2010 and 2011, and the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Finals in 2011, but the Dallas Cowboys still rule the Metroplex despite winning only one playoff game in the last 18 seasons. In Chicago, the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2010 and 2013; the White Sox won the World Series in 2005, and the Bulls have become perennial contenders again, but the Bears still rule despite only five playoff appearances since 1992. And sports fans in Detroit would gladly trade one of the Red Wings' four Stanley Cup championships since 1997 for a Super Bowl championship for the Lions.

And if you think Steeler fans are overzealous, I have three letters for you: SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC! Try dealing with that every fall. College football has become a proxy for the Civil War down here.
