Look, we all know the weather is terrible here. It rains constantly, unless it is snowing--and that's just in the summer. The sun shines maybe three days a year total. What I object to is you trying to introduce 'science' into a discussion of weather.

This winter will be milder than the last two but most of Pittsburgh won't enjoy it and will be grumbling because the Stillers will miss the playoffs again.

To me, it's all varying shades of "it's too cold to spend time outside". Beyond that, the severity means little to me aside from slightly higher gas bills and more shoveling.

Partly moaning, scattered whining, with brief patchy shrieking.

Another severe winter with excessive exaggerations by local news severe weather teams resulting in huge amounts of toilet paper, milk and bread being sold, complaints of sidewalks not being plowed, and too many automobiles traveling on the roads that are taking precedence for plowing.

Must be orange "wooly worms" there. I've been seeing mostly black, and even a white one.
