J- and F- visas are non-immigrant visas, so the students, researchers, visiting scholars, and contract workers here temporarily or for fixed terms are not immigrants. As someone else mentioned, the internationals who are immigrants---and who can afford it---are settling more in the suburbs.

Kind of like how the swastika used to be a peace sign until the Nazi's corrupted it.

Sort of.

But not quite.

The swastika wasn't that popular before the national socialists decided to use it as a trademark.

The stars and bars was popular with Skynard fans and the Dukes of Hazzard, among others, before it was attached to the idea of racism ex post facto by those opposed to racism.

Sorry i think this has been done before The Beverly Hillbillies - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't think it was ex post facto.

The Confederate States of America had some racist baggage attached to it, and consequently to its flag.

The difference is that in these days of political correctness, people are aware of that enough that, to fail to not display it is read as racist.

I'm glad you're here to take a stand for those in favor of racism. Let's decouple this flag from history asap so we can get back to enjoying the Dukes of Hazzard.

All of your people and groups throughout history had their points of negativity. Attaching the stars and bars just to the idea of slavery and/or racism is akin to denouncing aztec artifacts to human sacrifice or Spanish culture to the idea of celebrating auto de fe's.

Let's maybe wait until everybody who used organized violence to stop black people from voting has died before we expect that to be treated the same as 500 year old cases.

Good point. Maybe we should've painted some of the above mentioned swastikas on The Saturn V. Werner Von Braun and his guys were some damn fine rocket scientists, and that Holocaust thing was just an unpleasant footnote to the whole Nazi experience...
