They don't need to build taller than the Cathedral in Oakland, but they probably should still build a couple 30 story mixed use buildings... and they still would not come close to topping it.

A small cluster of 20 - 30 story mixed use buildings would look great at that Oakland Portal site. It would look great from the Southside and Mount Washington. It would help to connect the Oakland and downtown skylines.

No news on the location of the regular farmers' market this year though.
That was a nice little thing. I didn't get anything, as there were tons of students eating vegetables and fruits, and I didn't want to deprive them! The bread (from Mediterra) was sold out, and I was there a little after 12.

Exactly. The Cathedral is pretty tall. For Oakland and Pittsburgh to reach its potential, it needs to maximize space and Oakland is such an area to do that - both residential and office wise.

That's going to be a tall building as there's only 43,560 square feet per acre and they are planning on 425,000 square feet in two acres. Hopefully it somehow connects to things at the top of the hollow.

"The 425,000-square-foot development would be built on a two-acre parcel on university-owned land between Carnegie Museums and Junction Hollow."

I love the idea for this development, but I have no idea where this is. Is this the parcel of land on which the former CMU PNC Bank Branch sat (now CMU's Integrated Innovation Institute), across from the old Panther Hollow Inn?
