The time has come when I am forced to think about Christmas present buying. I don't like to give gift cards. I am looking for one of a kind type things for the women in my family like jewelry, scarves, bags, etc. What moderately priced (gifts from $20-50) do you like? I got a few things at the I Made It! and Handmade Arcade markets, but didn't have as much luck as I hoped.
I like Mexico Lindo and Ten Thousand Villages shops in Squirrel Hill, and I have bough things at the Carnegie Museum shop. There are probably a lot of places I am missing around town and I would love to learn about them.
I will even cross a river to check out a good recommendation!

Wild Card in Lawrenceville is my go-to for "I have no idea what to get this person." There is some great stuff in there. I did nearly all my Christmas shopping at locally owned stores on "Small Business Saturday" and hit the following:

Dragonfly Castle-L'ville (upscale woo toys)
Crystal Bead Bazaar-L'ville
Wild Card
Kards Unlimited-Walnut Street
Shadyside Variety-Walnut Street
S.W. Randall-Squirrel Hill
Games Unlimited-Squirrel Hill
Phantom of the Attic-Oakland

Right now in the Cathedral of Learning, bunches of vendors are selling holiday stuff from various places. I'm just eating so I don't all about the merch.

Gallery on 43rd Street in Lawrenceville just off Butler. Full disclosure, I have some of my work for sale there. PM me and I'll tell you which stuff is mine.

EDIT--oops, just reread and said you wanted gifts for women in your family--assume that you didn't mean the "younger" ladies. :/

Oh well, the toy store is still great.

I bought some nice things at Boutique 208 on Sixth Street in the Cultural District last year. It was originally just supposed to be a "pop-up" store but has now become a permanent fixture.

Otherwise try some "off the beaten path" places in the Strip District, such as Artistry, which is next-door to the Spaghetti Warehouse near 26th & Smallman. Marty's Market has some cool things, too, and I don't know of many Pittsburghers who have even heard of it, let alone patronized it. I've spent ~$50 so far on Christmas gifts at Mon Aimee Chocolat, which is right in the heart of the Strip's business district at Penn & 21st, too.

One of the co-owners of the new upscale deli across the street from me in Polish Hill is a leather crafter on the side and had some of her work available at the Handmade Arcade. Speaking of Polish Hill, most people don't know we also house Copacetic Comics and Mind Cure Records.

I will also reinforce the shout-out for Ten Thousand Villages (even though it's a large chain). Good stuff available there that helps to support a good cause, too!

I only shop at stores within Pittsburgh's city limits. I do shop at independent and national chains.

Shop412 - Southside Works
Social Status - East Liberty / Downtown
Sneaker Villa - East Liberty / Edgewood / Downtown
Littles Shoes - Squirrel Hill
Foot Loose - Shady Side

My wife shops at lady boutiques on Carson, Bakery Square, Walnut St., and Oakmont
