Our family recently purchased a house in Bethel Park. So far, we are happy with the decision to move here. Lots of shops, parks, good schools and access to the T line for mass transit. The Montour Trail also runs through parts of Bethel Park.

The Baldwin-Whitehall has good elementary schools, but for some reason the middle school doesn't perform well academically: School Performance Profile: Harrison MS

Bethel Park is a fine community but it is poorer, has smaller homes and its school district doesn't compare at all to Upper St Clair, Mt Lebanon or Peters Township and all the ratings attest to that. It is safe. It has a lot of shopping and South Hills Village mall sits on its western edge. Access to the T can be a real plus depending on where you live and your need to access it.

If you're working in West Mifflin with no children I'd highly recommend South Park. The school district is up and coming which means housing values will stay strong. It doesn't have the shopping opportunities but they are nearby in Bethel Park. Also Pleasant Hills is a great choice if you want a short commute. Great community, close to shopping and a strong school district.

Whitehall is not to my liking. Too urban, a little rundown and just a so-so school district.
