Default Are these good areas? Ambridge, Sewickley...

hello
i have found apt's in these areas for decent prices and i was just wondering if the neighborhoods were atleast 'okay.' i know there kind of far from the city itself, but that's fine, i was just wondering if they were safe and what not. they are: ambridge, sewickley, forest hills, north hunington, and point breeze.

any input is appreciated. thanks.

Sewickley is a very nice area...some of the wealthiest Pittsburghers live there (i.e., professional athletes: Mario Lemieux - Pittsburgh Penguins). I'd stay away from Ambridge if I were you. It's not "dangerous" per se, but it's definitely going downhill from what I hear. Not sure about the other areas that you mentioned. Maybe consider the Wexford area (North Hills)...it's very nice too, although a bit pricey. McKnight Rd. is incredibly congested, so you'd want to stay away from there, but there are nice surrounding areas: Treesdale, Mars, Gibsonia, Pine, Hampton, Ross Twp.. Plus, they are an earshot away from I-79 (and the Turnpike) which takes you straight into the city. If you lived in Sewickley, you could just jump on 65 which takes you directly into the city. 65 (a.k.a. Ohio River Blvd) has a lot more stop lights along the way, but it's about the same distance, I think. Hope this helps!

My family lives in Sewickely and yes it is a very wealthy, nice area. It is close to Robinson Mall (15 min) which has tons of shopping, dining and job opportunities. If you are looking near Sewickley, Robinson and Moon might be good affordable options for you as well. I would avoid Ambridge as the last poster mentioned. It's a depressed area and farther from the city. There isnt really a whole lot to do there.

Courtyards is a really nice place to live. It's right next to the bridge (first left off the light actually) and Rt. 65 so you can go to lot of places. Compared to the price of apartments in the area, it's a great buy. I was going to move there before I settled on a place in nearby Moon instead, since I go to Robert Morris and wanted to find an apartment closer to campus (less traffic,ect.). If it weren't for that I would've moved there. Sewickley is a terrific area as well for multiple reasons.

I live in Sewickley and I love it. It's nice and quiet, and not everyone is wealthy. It's also very safe. You can go out walking at 1 am and no one will bother you. The schools are fantastic (if you have kids), and it is a walking town. The village is a great place to go and just walk around. But it's close to town and to Robinson.
