"Also in the video conversation, posted below, Wiz was asked to set the record straight on his gold single, "Black and Yellow" . As indicated in the video, the song began as a song about Wiz's signature Dodge Challenger Hemi RT before becoming a Pittsburgh Steelers anthem in time for the Super Bowl. "[Black and Yellow] was about the car," Wiz said smiling, with assertion. "And my jewelry. 'That's how I put it down, from my whip to my diamonds.' 'Black stripe, yellow paint / Them *****s scared of it, but them hoes ain't.' That's the Chally, when I pull that thing out. 'Hit the pedal once, make the floor shake.' It's about the car."
Although the song is about the car, Wiz alluded to the fact that the city inspired him to purchase that piece of American muscle. "It's about [civic] pride [too]. I'm from Pittsburgh, that's what made me get a black and yellow Challenger. I could've got the old school orange; I could've painted it any color. But I got it stock black and yellow. I had [the dealer] look for that car. And they got it for me." "

And what, pray tell, was the inspiration for the color scheme of his car?

Oh yeah.

By the way, it was never "adopted" as a Steelers anthem; it already was one in the first place. The song debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #100 on October 2, 2010. The video, replete with Pittsburgh imagery, Terrible Towels, and a guest appearance by LaMarr Woodley, was uploaded to YouTube on October 11, 2010.

So if the song is about his car and absolutely nothing else, then why the **** do we have to wait until 1:03 of the video to even see it? Why don't we see it rolling down the street from the get-go? Why do the Terrible Towels become more and more prevalent after we see the first one at 1:56? Plain and simple, Wiz Khalifa made the song a Steelers anthem the moment he and Bill Paladino produced the video.

What next, you're gonna tell me that "Dr. Feelgood" is a song about a medical doctor?

was more lucrative to lead the unwashed masses to believe it was a "Steelers
anthem" than to allow them to know that it was just song about a car, even if
the car's colors were reminiscent of Pittsburgh sports teams' colors.
Fixed.

Then why is "reppin' my town" even part of the lyrics to the chorus?

Because black and gold (not yellow) are the colors of the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers, and as such are strongly representative of Pittsburgh. There's no disputing that. If you want to make a 'Pittsburgh' statement with your car's color scheme, black and yellow is a logical choice.

If it was intended as a "Steelers anthem" why is there no mention of, or even allusion to, football in the lyrics?

Did you notice the gold T-shirts with the inverted "P" being worn by some of the people in the video? That's the Pirates' P.

Actually, I mis-stated the case earlier. It's not "just" a car song. It's a song about cars and jewelry and money and women as symbols of success. And in pop culture in Pittsburgh, if you're going to jump on somebody's coattails to get there, the Steelers are never a bad choice...

I don't know, you'll have to ask Wiz Khalifa himself. He told MTV in very clear terms that he wanted "Black And Yellow" to be a Steelers anthem. Now give the creator of the intellectual property what he wants.

By the way, there are several different remixes of that song by several different musicians incorporating several different color schemes, and not a goddamn one of them is about the color scheme on any of the cars they drive. On the other hand, almost all of them pertain to the color scheme of their favorite sports teams. Now, if "Black And Yellow" was simply a car anthem, then why the **** are none of the remixes about cars? Why are they virtually all about sports teams? And why has everybody from Billboard to MTV to the creators of those remixes interpreted it as a sports anthem? Oh yeah, because it is, just as the creator of the song himself intended it to be.

Khalifa appropriately lives over in Canonsburg, home of other famous Pittsburgh area crooners, Bobby Vinton and Perry Como.

Something about that particular town lends itself to popular music.

If Jimmy Pol's lyrics had been Them hoes love my black and yellow accordion... , but never mentioned the team or the sport, would it have been the Steelers Polka?

(BTW, I recognize that this is as stupid and pointless a discussion as they come, but second to porn, isn't that what the internet is for?)

He stated many times, and on most every explanation of the song, it was ORIGINALLY about his black and yellow car. There's even pics with him and the car, and crazy enough, it's black and yellow.

If there's $$$ to be made after that for different applications aka Stillers Anthem, then yeah, take the $$$.
