It's sad to read how people put Lincoln Park down. This is the neighborhood where African Americans lived, raised families, worked, socialized and shopped. Back in the 60's going to East Hills Shopping Center was just like going to Pittsburg Mills or out Robinson today. Understand that once you passed Mt. Carmel and Blackadore your life was in danger. A huge swimming pool sat on Mt Carmel where the religious building is today and African Americans couldn't swim or obtain a membership. Understand this also, the school district was one of the best, look at it now...Public works took care of "Out the Road" as it is known by the first African Americans too call Lincoln Park home. So don't for one minute think that you make money and got several car payments and many plastic charge cards you've arrived by moving too Penn Hills. You should have move there in the 50's. All the shooting and home invasions it's not in Lincoln Park "it's out the road". Europeans are moving out of those homes like 40 going North and all the well to do Blacks" are moving in from the "Proper Pittsburgh neighborhoods Hell-o. So please be sensitive too how you come down on the true African American roots in Penn Hills. See check with us over here in Lincoln Park before you move to Penn Hills and learn some history. And guess what prejudice and control still is alive and kicking. Have you been to Council meeting lately or the school board meeting? Have a lovely day or night.

Penn Hills also showing up at the Shuman center. I remember seeing statistics of kids at Shuman and Penn Hills was on the rise. Remember the kids from the Duquesne shooting last year were from Penn Hills.
I know there are some great parts of Penn Hills, but there is an element there that was not there before and there is a trend growing.

Does not matter, the point being there is a growing criminal element that is noticeable in Penn Hills. Many kids from Homewood are tired of westinghouse school and looking to Penn Hills school and community for refuge. And, they are bringing with them, though they confess to be running from, antisocial behavior.

OKAY I GIVE YOU YOUR POINT. ALL I'M SAYING IS LINCOLN PARK IS NOT THE CULPRIT SOME HAVE MADE IT TO BE. WHENEVER A FAMILY MOVES INTO PENN HILLS, THEY DON'T MOVE TO LINCOLN PARK, BECAUSE IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM...THEY MOVE OUT MT. CARMEL OR FRANKSTOWN. AND TRUST ME SINCE I'VE ATTENDED THE PENN HILLS SCHOOL DISTRICT, IT HAS REALLY DROPPED. SO BEFORE YOU COME JETTING TO PENN HILLS SCHOOL DISTRICT, CHECK IT OUT THOROUGHLY.

I guess my main question is: If the problems in Penn Hills start in the areas close to Homewood, how far east do they stretch in the township?

Hey you might as well...people "generalize" about McKeesport all day...up and down on these forums!

SW PA doesn't really have any "war-zones"....except maybe Homewood...and Duquesne (not really close-by to the city) in the summer. I dunno...I've seen what you are talking about in Detroit, Miami and NYC. Nothing even comes close to that around Pittsburgh.
