Some people in the city think that Cranberry is "stealing" businesses and residents and tax dollars from the city.

But it really isn't.

Cranberry offers a much different experience than Pittsburgh, and its what a lot of people want. Many of America's more modern cities in the Sun Belt offer experiences closer to what people can have in Cranberry. If Westinghouse couldn't move to Cranberry, they may well have looked for a place entirely different and not locate in Pittsburgh at all

No reason to close a thread just because you don't like an area.

I wanted to buy a can of cranberries the other day at Aldi. I was told that they only carry them in the Fall and that they are seasonal, at least at Aldi. I never knew a canned good could be seasonal. Learn something knew every day,

Some posters on here may remember Pittsburgh forums such as this one from the early days the internet of the late 90s into the early years of the 2000s. At the time, the perceived "cool" cities of many college students and recent graduates seemed to be the Sun Belt cities. It was thought that having and Applebees and a Walgreens every square (and I mean square) mile meant progressiveness. These cities were much cleaner and newer and had better roads and highways. I wasn't until the last eight ten years where there has been this major shift that people realized that they wanted "walkable" neighborhoods. They wanted to be able to walk to the bakery for that cupcake, to that coffee house or for lunch. The new "cool' cities were ones that were built not for cars, like the newer cities, but for pedestrians. A neighborhood like Cranberry probably would appeal more to someone approaching middle age on up that gets a good school district and doesn't have to worry about politics about bussing kids to schools away from their area due to budget issues etc. like you have in the city.

It's extremely simple reasoning why Cranberry is so popular. Cranberry appeals to all ages and we don't want city living but an easy opportunity to visit the city when we want. We don't desire walkable, bikeable, congestion, etc... If anybody out here did we would simply move to the city. It's really not difficult to understand if one wasn't so set on thinking city living is the only living.
