I'm curious what all of the folks speaking out against the critical mass folks have to say about the Pedal PGH. Does the same animosity exist for the organized ride around the city that, in part, also aims to promote a healthy relationship between motor vehicles and bicyclists?

Seems obvious. If they're not like the cyclists in the video, it sounds like a great event. If it is like those in the video you'll get the same responses.

I have no problem with them & have ridden in a couple of their rides. There are some nuts within their ranks but are kept in line by the majority.

In Pittsburgh's case, I think Pedal Pittsburgh is much worse than critical mass, BUT people have to realize, there are a ton of very inexperienced cyclists on Pedal Pittsburgh, so people do a lot of dumb things. They just don't know any better. I have ridden it many times and have commuted when it was going on. Motorists are very frustrated by all these cyclists that really don't know what they are doing and taking over the roadways for the day. It is kind of funny in a way, but I think pedal Pittsburgh should have a little speech before the ride. They should explain the rules of the road to all those new riders. Oddly they don't. I am not pleased with the taking over of the roads on that day. I think harmony is a better way to get respect from the motorists, that wildly outnumber cyclists. I won't ride in those rides anymore. I want to be a simple pass for cars and someone that is easy on the flow of traffic. I don't get that from these organized rides because they DON'T educate the people signing up! It is THEIR FAULT it is so bad, not the motorists.
