I would say "toy" gangs..but since they have guns it dosen't make them any less dangerous..
Then, you have people who like to dress "gangster" or "hip-hop"..so you really don't know who is in a gang or not..however i did see 2 guys dressed exactly alike walking
down the street..and i thought "I wonder if they are gang members?"...
I don't move with that low element so I have no idea except what is in the media...

In referense to Beltzoover and Arlington I have no clue about them but, It could be over drug truf.
This is very true... This is what I was trying to point out.

Your friend in L.A. may laugh, but it's serious business. Pittsburgh has a higher crime rate, including murder, than L.A. by a long shot.

a group of 3 or 4 guys is considered a clique like i was saying earlier, trust me there are gangs in Pittsburgh, but not as strong as the gangs presence is in NY, LA, or Chicago.
BTW your friend would not laugh is he goes through Homewood, East Hills, Or parts of the North Side where the gangs are pretty active.

That may be true because of Pittsburgh's relatively small population vs. increased murders, but it's a lot easier to avoid the trouble spots in Pittsburgh so I would say your chances of getting shot in L.A. are higher. Even trendy, hip neighborhoods like Silver Lake are basically gang turf.

I just LOVE how race and subculture can bring out the best and the worst in people....
I agree, that the "gangs" here are laughable when compared to what we had in New York City, or even St. Louis. . . but still & all, that may be why they have guns in incresingly larger numbers... the gun is the Great Equalizer, especially when you wanna' get in, get what you're after, and get back out again.... why screw around with semantics, eh?...
Those who even look like gang members being arrested on sight, however, would ignite a race war in the freakin' streets, as black culture has adopted the "thug life" dress and mannerisms and incorporated it into the larger African-American culture, virtually adopting it... so, what are we gonna' do, arrest every baggy-pantsed-wearing moron out in the streets?. . . . . . and then what, once we find out the kid is a straight-A student who just happens to like "Chingy"??? We "apologize???".....
No, the answer is MUCH larger, and we have to look at gang violence and murder as a microcosm of a wholistic picture of what I'll call "Poor America"... I'm NOT saying we should coddle the criminals, but we also can't punish innocents just because they're poor and haven't been adequately exposed to Country Club-style living...
I say, let the general public enjoy the concealed carry rights, and as soon as the thugs find out that Joe Schmo might be packin' heat as well, they might think twice about attacking him.... of course, at first, they won't.... and a few of 'em WILL die, in the process of "retraining" them into the New Social Order...
More guns = More Violence.... yeah, I know. . . . and it's sad we've come to that place in America.... but it is what it is, and the only thing bullies respond to and understand is the brute force that they practice, themselves. So, I say Live by the gun; Die by the gun....
.......problem "solved"........
:-S
yeah - - - I was being sarcastic......................

No bangers on the Hill
Oh, Incidentally, neither does the Hill (have gangs) this is not including SugarTop. When you hear shootings up on the Hill everyone assumes that it was someone from that area......Only to the untrained ear. 9 out of 10 times the victim and/or the aggressor are from somewhere else.

It is funny when people who are not involved in other (or their own) communities make judgements on what they hear on the news. The news media in Pittsburgh is so misinformed about their criminal reporting it is laughable.

Who should be arrested? If a white cop sees a black youth dressed in baggy slung low pants with a bandanna hanging out his pocket does that make him a gang banger or a wannabe? Would that same cop arrest a white kid dressed the same.....I don't think so.
