No, the answer is MUCH larger, and we have to look at gang violence and murder as a microcosm of a wholistic picture of what I'll call "Poor America"... I'm NOT saying we should coddle the criminals, but we also can't punish innocents just because they're poor and haven't been adequately exposed to Country Club-style living...

Maybe I should have said "known gang members".The police know who they are and should hassle them every chance they get.If they know someones watching, they might not hang in the streets and cause so much trouble for the average Joe.

AveJohn: That would be a good idea if all cops thought like that. I remember numerous times I've harrassed by the boys in the blue. To be honest I think they just stop all young African american males. I know in Homewood they had this so called rule ( rumor) of if there is more the one African American that gives them a reason to pull you over. I remember I dropped my friend of at his house. The cops waited unti I came back out ( I was in there for about two hours) and when I came back out he was still there. He ran my plates and everything.

When I was a young hippie,I was pulled over many times because of my long hair and my youth.I never thought much of it at the time ,but then again I'm not black.

And where is Clairton on that list?

i kno the list seems like its str8 out the 90's but thats beckuz the gang culture in pittsburgh has been sort of passed down to the younger generation. the places that had gangs in 93 stil gat em, its just toned down. nd about clairton not being on the list, i didnt kno there were any gangs that far out from the city, but let me guess, are they crips

Dysiple you guys both are right actually. When I lived up there some people that was killed was from different parts of the city. Everyone knows that The Hill was a known blood territory but, I didn't people dressed in all red are flagging. Don't know if they're still around but there was a so called gang called "da Talaban"

Hmmm, that would be interesting since I still live there and drive/walk through it everyday. What you may be refering to could be small groups of kids pertending to be gang bangers
