You did strike a chord. My point still stands, that the level of self-righteousness is staggering within the bike evangelists. Every time that you post just reinforces that point.

WPXI: This just in, 90 year old man blew through every stop sign on Wylie Avenue piloting his Hoveround. Local officials to target geriatric scofflaws with punitive licensing and registration fees, more at 11.

I'm not sure what the point is of repeatedly and transparently goading cyclists and urbanites until they snap, and then using that as evidence that they're unreasonably sanctimonious and "evangelical". Congratulations, you started something, you win the internet.

You mean like the Angry Yinzers, mad that Bike Lanes take up their precious Free Parking spaces? Which if instituted these "bikeways" will consume most of along their travel paths. That kind of Rage, is what you can't imagine?

Got news for ya, the anger/outrage is VERY VERY REAL, although it mostly comes from Suburban folks that don't pay a dime in taxes to the city, but feel entitled to their Free Parking when they visit.

Bring on the Bikeways, Mr. Mayor!

Just to be fair, as long as we're supplying "news"; without the suburban folks that you seem to deride so much, the city would be a ghost town.

But keep looking for the rage, if that's what peanut butters your bread!

Right. I can't imagine that rage. Nor do I know any suburban folk outside the county/city, including myself, that could care about paying for parking or bikeways. Even suburbs have parking meters.

I'm a fairly avid cyclist and I love all the rails to tails that are springing up. But spending all the money on the city bike lanes seems stupid to me. How many people use them on a daily basis to justify them?
