Anybody know what is going on with this corner storefront? They closed for business last December, and the notices that Peet's was closing are still posted on the doors and windows. Last night I noticed a posting for a permit application (?) hanging up as well. I thought this might be a good place to find out what's going on with that property.

BTW, Kroger's is listed on the application notice...

I was wondering that too ... I know I heard DD was looking to open near Waterworks, but I doubt they'd want to be IN the mall itself, more like a standalone with a Drive through out close to Freeport.

That would be kind of overkill, given there is a Qdoba virtually across the street. I hope not. Jamba Juice anyone? Or even a frozen yogurt place... I think either would do well there.

That would probably be embraced, but I see what you mean about a drive-thru.

I don't know the location you're talking about, but I've noticed Chipotle loves to open within cilantro-sniffing distance of an existing Qdoba (Forbes Avenue in Oakland; S. Millvale @ Centre & Baum).

Huh... makes sense then. I wonder if their recent e coli outbreaks are going to put a crimp in their style.

The location on McKnight Rd. was like that (Chipotle opened across the street from Qdoba). That Qdoba location has since closed and is becoming a Burger 21. So, essentially, Chipotle ran Qdoba out of the McKnight Road market.

Gross! I guess the only type of place that could afford that rent would be a dumb chain with reheat food slapped on some wrap or whatever. It is amazing La Capella is still there. Not bad pizza for our region.

I notices that on McKnight Road, as well. But it's strange because they were on opposite sides of the road, and it's not like you can't get from one to the other without going to the red lights, making a u-turn and coming back. You certainly can't walk across McKnight there. I always thought the northbound people ate at Qdoba and the southbound people at at Chipotle.
