Heavily settled industrial valley in the 60's when the idea was incubated for this project.

The Glenwood interchange is such a cluster....my dream is that "when" PennDOT finally gets the deficient bridges to an acceptable level, they can start some massive projects reconfiguring some of the more absurd interchanges around town. Unfortunately since they are currently in the middle of a project to rehab all of the structures in this location (pretty sure this has been hoing on for 5-10 years at this point!), it's not likely we will see a major overhaul anytime soon. Still, one can hope that at least a few of these things get some attention down the road.

Personally I think this is even more screwy than the Sq Hill interchange; it just receives a lot less traffic so it gets proportionally less attention. Thanks to the OP for bringing it up.

Thank God that expressway plan never came to fruition. It would have destroyed a lot of neighborhoods.
