How many times have we read here on this board that Kenny Chesney concerts are a great resource for the city because they bring in money?

Well, apparently he is short-changing this city by exploiting loopholes to avoid paying usage fees at Heinz stadium. This is a travesty.

Just one more reason to ban him from the Burgh!

"Among recommendations made in the report, Lamb said the city should find ways to close what he called a loophole in the facility usage fee.

The fee is for entertainers, performers, sports team employees and others who don't live here but use the publicly subsidized facilities. It is calculated based on a person's self-reported income for the time that he or she is in Pittsburgh. These figures vary greatly, Lamb said, noting as an example that pop star Taylor Swift paid a $70,411 usage fee for a 2013 show at Heinz Field, while country star Kenny Chesney paid a $132 fee for his Heinz performance the same year."

How much total revenue comes to the city and surrounding businesses for a KC concert?

I'd wager $70k is pretty insignificant. Certainly not saying he shouldn't pay it, but I am saying it's probably insignificant and it's a speck compared to what he brings vs. not coming at all.

That's insane.
Maybe instead of self-reporting, there should be income verification.

Loopholes are made in order to be exploited.

It isn't Mr. Chesney's fault that his tax people are sharp characters looking out for their employer's financial well-being.

The solution is to re-write the ordinance, not to ban an individual performer from the city.

Especially since the disdain is really directed towards the fans.

Drop the "disdain for the fans" bs. As already discussed to death, it's a costly mess.

But by all means let's have another long thread about it being "disdain for the fans"

When the city cheaps out on disposal, there's going to be an issue at most every huge event. The disdain for the fans has been brought up repeatedly as a reason some here think KC shouldn't be allowed to come to da 'burgh.

Curious as to other acts that use the loophole that haven't been mentioned.
