Here's one for any North Side folks. Can you hear the Kenny Chesney concert from the park or the national aviary? Was considering the outdoor aviary space as a wedding venue and didn't want the noise to travel. Heinz Field is pretty close.

You're worried about the noise but not birds pooping on your nice clothes?

Noise or not, the traffic and drunken atmosphere alone would be enough reason for me to not hold a wedding on the North Side that weekend.

I was at a wedding at the Carnegie art museum hall of architecture, it was unbelievable. The traffic around Kenny chesney is not to be messed with. Weddings at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh - Hall of Architecture

During big events you can definitely hear the crowd roar a bit and you'll be able too hear the faint din of the music itself in the distance, but it's not overwhelming by the Aviary. Of course, any fireworks are really easy to hear.

I wouldn't necessarily rule out a wedding at the Aviary that day, but you'd need to plan the timing perhaps a little more than normal. Unfortunately, with the limited parking lot hours last time, many of the Chesney pickups set up shop in and around the West Park area of the Commons and tailgated in the morning, prior to being allowed into the parking lots. But, once the lots were open, that dispersed. While it wasn't awful, not all of the groups policed their trash from the park. Traffic might be a slight issue before the show, but it's an early arriving crowd so, chances are, getting to the reception wouldn't be too much of a hassle. My concern would be after the reception, if both events let out around the same time.

Interestingly, I think this highlights the dual nature of the elevated highway and train tracks that separate the North Shore from the North Side proper. While often, we bemoan the lack of integration of the areas and the physical boundaries separating them, on these occasions it's a real benefit.

Walk through the underpass and it's a different world, on both sides.
