Thanks!--and the "saga" only ended yesterday, after we finally got the power turned on (6 days late)... Duquense had some previous issue with the meter in the building, and got into it with our landlord over it, the end result being he had to get an inspector back out there (although the inspector found nothing wrong...), pay two $50 fines, and then by that time, we had to wait out the Memorial Day holiday before calling them to schedule them to come turn the switch on WEDNESDAY. . . sleeping on a carpet in the powerless apartment for 6 nights caused me to get "Iritis" (an inflamed iris) and necessitate a trip to the UPMC eye clinic in Monroeville where, several hundred dollars later, I now have eye drops to put in ever two hours...
The Catherine Wheel song "That's When I Reach For My Revolver" comes to mind now, anytime I hear the name "Duquense"......

Another Update - Assimilating to Mt. Oliver
Well, we've been here about a month now, living right on Brownsville Road in the heart of Mt. Oliver, and I have to say. . . it's nowhere NEAR as bad as what a few people warned about. . . . yeah, it has more than its share of loud, window-rattling bass coming from a few Escalade stereos, but the locals have all been friendly and there's no fear in us, as we make our way through the area on our way to and from the Southside, Downtown and points beyond...
We have easy access to shortcuts to Downtown and the North Shore, many decent malls via Saw Mill Run, and the Airport... many days, I don't even get caught up in the bridge/tunnel jams after work, as I've found the "unspoken" shortcuts to get around them, thanks to my trusty Garmin GPS navigator....
My gals' sister came to stay a weekend and had a very god visit, and is looking forward even more, to HER move to Pittsburgh as well... hopefully, they'll move close to us and not way out by Moon, as originally thought.
The parents are still trying to sell their house in Hungary, and hopefully they'll get this completed this summer and be able to start their own moving process. Our agent, while unable to help us personally (due only to time constraints) will still be the one we send them through, as she was very thorough and professional.
I do have a couple more pictures here, for whomever is interested in seeing how we've spent our time here since The Big Move:

I think that anyone who is considering moving to the area, review this thread.... see the initial things I was saying and looking for, and the input that I received from damned near everyone on here, the pictures i've taken and the challenges we've overcome in our "getting here', and use all that pertinent information in your own potential move to Pittsburgh.... I ask for it to be stickied, but I'm not sure if it's THAT valuable. . . . . but anywho. . . . . . . - - I'm pleased as punch to be here... and, for the record, I just got my job offer today, so I start work tomorrow morning, right out at Century III, running the maintenance crews!!--YLAM!!!!

Good to hear you're all settled, By-Tor!
So many people come and ask for advice about moving in this forum and then never come back--hope you'll stick around.

I second that. I'm planning to move there in a few years and I'd really like to have updates on how you newbies are adjusting.

Thanks for the kind words. Congrats on the job. Maybe things will start to go a little more smoothly for you now.
