We are relocating to Pittsburgh the first week of June and need at least a 2 bedroom home or duplex to rent for a year. My company will put us up for 30 days in temp. housing so the latest we could move would be July 1 st. Earliest is May 23rd.
We would like to be in USC, Mt. Lebanon or Peters Twp Schools. These schools are close to my work as well. We have searched on craigslist, post gazette, & the internet for weeks but no call backs!
We have a home in Atlanta that is on the market but we don't want to buy another until we are sure where we want to be.
We have excellent credit and need a place that allows pets. Thanks for any help!

Try calling real estate agents in the areas in which you want to live.

If you do get callbacks from Craigslist ads, be sure both parties sign the lease immediately when they say they will rent to you. We got burned twice in one week by people who said their houses were for rent, and then decided a few days later to continue living in them. By the time we were told (1.5 days later in one case, and 5 days later in another, after repeated attempts to contact the lessor), the other houses we had as fallback positions were already rented.

I think it is safer to rent from realtors acting in a property management capacity. We just returned from an expensive nine day house-hunting trip to Pittsburgh and never did find a suitable place to rent.

I second the idea of calling real estate agents. They are handling a lot of house rentals right now as potential sellers are holding out for a better market, and they have every incentive to get you into a house as soon as possible.
