Sometimes United has specials between PIT and EWR (Newark). $168 round-trip for nonstop service: fly Friday after 7 or Saturday, and return Monday or Tuesday. In order to get this deal, check between Tuesday and Friday. Google United Specials and it will list what is offered for the week from United. They do not offer much on holiday weekends however, since there are a greater number of leisure travelers anyways.

I have seen Spirit sell LBE-MYR-ACY during the Spring and Summer when it operates LBE-MYR. It's a connection but sometimes the fare will be under $100. But I've also seen United sell PIT-IAD-PHL and vice versa for relatively low fare, but it's hit or miss.

Another general tip with Spirit: you can save $17.99 per each leg by booking at the Spirit counter at the airport.

I hold the same opinion! I fly Spirit on many flights, and once I did fly PHL-LAS and it was somewhat miserable (except for the dirt cheap fare that I got) in that while I got extended leg room by booking an Emergency Row Seat, the seat cushion had no support or firmness. I don't know how people bear with it for such long flights. Frontier's seats are better in my opinion and they don't have old seats in any aircraft as far as I'm aware.
