Whats up with unbias reporting?
Has anyone noticed that when there is a "disturbance" that involves a gun in a well to do area (North Hills recently) that the media had a hard time getting information at first and than all of the neighbors were sent out from their homes in the cold? In an area such as Homewood (some time ago) or South Side (recently) alot of information about the gunman and what was going was immediately available. Was the former because a Pittsburgh Steeler was involved, was it because of the neighborhood or was it because of the shooter?

Crime brings down property values.

Makes sense to me -- a person with money has the means to immediately hire an attorney or have one on call. They are told to keep their mouths shut -- or know it already -- neighbors understand the power and keep their mouths shut for fear of lawsuits. The lawyer then sends out loads of disinformation.... and no one ends up knowing anything.
In the lower income areas, there is pressure to keep quiet in the form of retaliation, but one guy facing a long jail term will often happily sell out someone else in order to trim his jail time. They usually don't have representation, or have to depend on a overwhelmed public attorney system, who doesn't have the time or money to do anything other than show up to mount a defense.

I understand that, why report everything in poor neighborhoods and partially report the same events in affluent ones?

I dont know what you are talking about, from the minute KDKA first reported it, they mentioned it was the home of the said Pittsburgh Steeler, in fact, they more than emphasized it was.

If anything there is an under-reporting of incidents in so called ghetto areas. There is plenty that goes on that never makes the news, just because it would overwhelm the evening report.

I live near the area and the FIRST 5 bulletins reported as "the incident is close to a Steeler players home" As time went by more accurate information became available.

Actually they can only report what they know and not assume. There are some things that happen in poor heighbors (good things) but if the powers to be do not feel that it is not newsworthy they will not report it anyway.

Not initally, At first they said that "a Pittsburgh Steeler lived nearby" and than it went to "unknown Pittsburgh Steeler" and than they finally "fested up" as to who it was.
