Places to see Poetry and spoken word performances?
Hey, I'm looking for venues to see performances of Poetry and the Spoken Word in the City of Pittsburgh.
Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks!

I know the Shadow Lounge in East Liberty has spoken word nights and poetry slams.

I was under the impression that the Quiet Storm discontinued live performances. However they may still have poetry groups that meet there. I know my sorority alumna group is planning to move our meetings there.
The Shadow Lounge immediately comes to mind....Justin (the owner) is the man when it comes to booking interesting artists and musicians. I love that place.

I am a 41 year old Club Promotor who enjoys creating new concepts and watching them come to fruition. I live in Pittsburgh but I found myself struggling to find events in the city that I enjoyed attending. I now promote three weekly events here in Pittsburgh that I believe you will enjoy. On Fridays evening I am inviting you to come join WAMO’s AnJi Corley from the Midday Experience, our friends, and their associates for something hip, cool, and different “Neo-Soul Fridays” Neo-Soul Fridays is all about bringing soulful music, poetry, and spoken word together in a relaxed mature environment for your listening pleasure. Pittsburgh is overdue for an infusion of Soul. T. Brown Promotions and Godfreys Bar and Grill have come together and created an event that would make Mickey Bass, Billy Eckstine, Lena Horne, George Benson, Tommy Turrentine, and Grover Mitchell proud. I believe song writer Jill Scott sums it up best maybe we could
”Find spot for us to spark
Conversation,
Verbal elation,
Stimulation,
Share our situations,
Temptations,
Education,
Relaxations,
Elevation,
Maybe we can talk about Surah 31:18"
Neo-Soul Fridays has a $5.00 cover charge and begins @ 5pm with a hot buffet for happy hour.
My Martini Mondays are hosted by Casey Hampton and it’s the only place where you can Karaoke, watch the Monday Night game, eat , and have $3.00 Martinis all night with the Steelers! Deshea and Casey are big karaoke fans so you should come by and show them your karaoke skills this and every Monday Night. Karaoke starts @ 8pm but you should get there early to get your name on the list! There is a $5.00 cover charge but all singers get in free! LOCATION: 2016 SMALLMAN ST PGH PA 15212 (GODFREYS BAR & GRILL) My Salsa Night is the only Wednesday night Salsa event in the City. I have this event @ CALICO JACKS CANTINA on the North Shore of Pittsburgh.! Kristine Licht is instructing this week. You can take a one hour lesson @ 8pm for only $10.00 which includes your cover! If you don’t need a lessons then $5.00 will get you in the door where you can listen to Latin DJ INDAMIX play the hottest Latin music till midnight. Calico’s has $3.00 Mojitos, home made Sangria, and $2.00 Coors light Drafts from 10 to midnight! You should get your friends together and come on out to Calico Jacks this and every Wednesday night for some Latin Fun! The kitchen stays open till 9 PM and they have great Burritos!
