Summer in Pittsburgh
What's it like in the summer. I hate humiditiy but, I doubt your Summers are less humid then NYC.

Hazy, hot, and humid is a very common summer weather report here. If you want specific comparisons you can look it up.

I personally think NYC summers are a bit worse. Both can be quite humid.

I've not been to NYC in the summer enough to compare, but Pittsburgh is quite humid indeed. I have heard people worry that they'll start to mildew if the humidity didn't break.

Pittsburgh summers are horrible, I'd almost take Vegas heat over the humid hell that is Pittsburgh in the summer.

Really?? I mean, it can be humid, but truthfully, it's sort of like winter in my opinion. Pittsburgh has this rep for having these horrible winters when truthfully we MAY get a serious snowstorm two or three times out of the whole winter. Likewise, I think we only get HORRIBLE humidity a few times during the summer, too. A few days here or there that are unbearable. Otherwise, I find it rather comfortable. |

Is the humidity caused more by the existence of the three rivers running thru is (much like St. Louis' humidity is caused by the Mississippi & Missouri Rivers' presence), or is it more climatological by reason of the city's geographic location?
ALSO, does Pittsburgh get more Lake Effect snows or major snowstorms moving across?

Pittsburgh is mostly out of the range of the lake-effect snow. Our snowstorms are the ones that move across the country.

I'm not sure if you are from the north-east, but most of the north-east is humid. I'm sure there IS a reason, but I couldn't tell you why. For example, NYC has worse summers than Pittsburgh imo. Philadelphia has humid summers, too. This whole greater region is similar in terms of summer. I don't think the rivers play that much of a role but I COULD be wrong. |

Most of the midwest, as well. You don't get into "dry" until about the 100th meridian, somewhere out in mid-Nebraska. |
