I thought they should've used Western Penitentiary as Arkham Asylum in The Dark Knight Rises. But they didn't, so you should use it as some kind of asylum, prison or some creepy haunted building .

I wouldn't be surprised if Michael Chabon has already written a Pittsburgh based superhero book, which if he has...well, that's some stiff competition.

Although, you know I don't think anyone has covered the 90's goth scene in the burgh and/or the vampire wars (from the late 90's).

Also Steely McBeam!

These are all fabulous and going directly into a folder.

Let's hope there's room for more than one hero in the Steel City.

Cathedral of Learning or the Koppers Building

I'd like to see a hero/villain fighting on a huge 12 or 16 (can't recall the limit) barge/tugboat flotilla going up the Mon -- pretty great sight, especially if you've ever seen one pass under your feet from the Smithfield Street Bridge.

Fight scene over the Smithfield Street Bridge onto the barge!

Pittsburgh villains should:
(1) Somehow be affiliated with and/or holed up in a UPMC-related underground lair, perhaps downtown in the UPMC tower or in one of their primate testing facilites (like the ones in Harmarville or Plum) or located in the old jail along the Ohio River just down river from the Science Center;
(2) Have migrated to Pittsburgh from Cleveland or Philly;
(3) Speak ill of Myron Cope;

Stealing liberally from Captain America -- I like the idea of an African American superhero, perhaps one whose origin story has shades of the Tuskegee experiments. The situation has left our hero with super powers, but a complex view of history and who he should be saving. Perhaps he returns to Pittsburgh after WWII and lives in a row house on the Hill, or perhaps Sugar Top. His super powers include delayed aging, so he lives through the destruction of the lower Hill, the MLK assassination and the ensuing riots, urban renewal, Big Steel collapse, etc. etc. He is occasionally called upon by the government to assist on various assignments. Throughout the story, we see our hero confront white bigots, and black on black violence. In the key development of the story, we see a villainous cabal track our hero to Pittsburgh, learn of his whereabouts, and try to eliminate him, in a battle that rages across several locales.

One thing you might want to keep in mind for your comic...

A lot of the buildings in Oakland are interconnected by a network of underground tunnels. That's fertile material for nefarious shenanigans!

Brilliant. Though the villain(s) will be a bit more subtle in the first novel (as we are currently dreaming it).
