Yes, they've been working on it since last fall. One of the big buildings is down and the ground is all torn up. There are workers working on the other building that they are renovating. I suspect more progress will be made once spring arrives and the ground thaws.

Not sure what you are asking about re: housing. There's a townhouse complex called "Village of Shadyside" or something like that right across the street from Bakery Square. N and S Point Breeze begin 1/2 block down Penn, where a person can rent apartments, or buy single family homes anywhere from $70K to probably almost a million.

Bakery Square will also be near the residential neighborhoods of Shadyside and Friendship, and not really far from most of the major residential neighborhoods in the East End.

I think technically the western-most point of Squirrel Hill (where Beechwood ends at Fifth) is just across Mellon Park from Bakery Square as well. This particular development is really well situated at a confluence of several East End neighborhoods.

According to the "official" city neighborhood map, Squirrel Hill North ends at Shady on Fifth, and Beechwood is actually in Point Breeze. Although personally, I've heard that whole area referred to as "North of Forbes". And for that matter, it looks like Bakery Square is actually in Larimer, not East Liberty, according to the "official" map.

Anyway, the bottomline is that Bakery Square is indeed right at the intersection of a bunch of neighborhoods (Penn and Fifth being a major cross-roads, in fact).

I would consider it much closer to the lovely neighborhood of East Liberty than relating it to Friendship.

Indeed, and I was actually assuming Bakery Square was literally in East Liberty (until I looked at the "official" map and found it was technically in Larimer).

I just mentioned Friendship because it was one of the residential neighborhoods that borders East Liberty (along with Shadyside and Point Breeze), and from what I know of the OP's business plans, Friendship may contain some of the OP's potential customer base.
