I don't believe anyone would say that any owner should be throwing big money at bad players or did I miss something?

They weren`t bad players when the big money was thrown at them.

I believe the Mets started paying Bobby Bonilla 1 million per year for 30 years. He had a good agent.

Nope, and nobody ever said he should, but he did promise that payroll would keep up with revenue and that has never happened, especially when we're always in the bottom of the league in payroll.

At least we have 3 winning seasons under Bob Nutting. Let's not forget he's been Chairman of the board since 2002.

The Diamondbacks are 16 games over .500 with a smaller payroll than the Pirates. A World Series title can`t be bought.

Nope it can't, but it also can't be won the way the Bucs operate. If you're going to have a bottom of the league payroll every year you better have an exceptional GM to draft well and supplement cheaper players around them. In going on 10 years, Huntington hasn't done that, unlessyou think 3 winning seasons is being successful.

Their bottom of the league payroll was good for 98 wins just a few short years ago. Are you saying that Arizona has no chance at all of playing in the World Series this year because of their small payroll? BTW, 2 of the Pirate starters have not played an inning this year and I don`t think it`s the fault of management.

I'm not saying Arizona has no chance but I certainly don't see them in or winning the WS.

Yep, and what did 98 wins get us but spanked in the WC because even though everyone knew that we'd be playing against Arietta, management didn't do enough at the deadline to win the division. They also didn't do anything after that season and let a 98 win team go to 78.

What's the fault of management is doing nothing with the payroll saved from Kang and Marte to find better talent than our lowly farm system to replace them. Using Moroff, Ngoepe, Ortiz, etc... is/was a joke.

Defending this organization is always entertaining. We're going on 2 losing seasons, have 3 winning seasons, haven't won the division in 25 years, we're going to dump more salary at the deadline and will never sniff a WS. Some Bucs fans definitely have the lowest standards in all of sports.

You`re trashing them for the season when they won 98 games. Game over.

Everyone knew we couldn't beat Arietta, so yes that WC game was "game over" and season over real quick. Don't forget right after that we didn't build off that 98 win season and instead went below .500.

How long will you use that 98 win s eason as an excuse for more losing seasons?
