Why ridiculous? I admit it is not easy and will eventually lead to burnout, but if you survive 6 months, you can make as much as in those 6 months as you would in a year. You can also build better experience than a Pittsburgh McJob.

But you don't live in Pittsburgh. You have a pied-à-terre here. I'd hardly call what you're doing commuting. An actual commute would be possible, though not necessarily advisable if you flew or took high-speed rail daily.

Wouldn't say I have a pied-à-terre. I own an actual home that I live in 3 nights a week and pay property taxes on.

This was back when Southwest was still offering those $60 one-way tickets to Philly, so it was nowhere near that expensive.

Wow, $60! If only. The only flights I can find are those overpriced Delta tickets that route you through Detroit.

If you are in a high paying job in an east coast city you aren't going to be relegated to a "mcjob" in pittsburgh. the arrogance of some people towards people not working on the coasts is ridiculous sometimes.

Really? I know people with college degrees driving for Uber, working in call
centers, and delivering pizza.

what makes you think those people would have better jobs in a more competitive job market?

Personal situations will vary. I would bet it's extremely rare that a job would be twice the net pay elsewhere after factoring in weekly travel & living expenses.
I personally make more here than I would elsewhere in the east coast for my particular situation.
