Ha! Sounds like proof positive that money doesn't necessarily bring happiness.

You'd be surprised. I do not fully agree with this. Years back, a black guy who oversaw a home for troubled or homeless men in DC (I was a volunteer there) said, when asked who he was going to vote for:

G.W!

I had to pick my shocked self up from the floor. For various reasons such as a job dealing with troubled people, I naturally assumed he would go Democrat, Socialist, or other minor party. He said: "I know what I'm getting with Bush". There was more to his reasoning, I'm sure.

I've actually known black republicans who are urbanites (more so in DC than Pgh). And, I'm sure you've known conservative, old-school Democrats here in the city or in the inner ring boroughs, too - for all intents and purposes, they are Republican-like (sorry for all these labels) except they are very pro-worker with labor issues.

I might tend to agree with you somewhat, gg (based on my life experiences), but your statements are not always cut and dry, and absolute. You were likely speaking in general terms, anyway - I know you are not a Limbaugh ditto-head.

But I just want to say that there are exceptions galore. For example, I think the old champion of the lower income black, Jesse Jackson, is hardly held in such esteem as he was when I was a child. People aren't dumb - they started to realize Jackson for the half-hearted phony he is. And that black guy with the tattooed face who ran for mayor - who had ZERO qualifications, got almost no vote, if I remember correctly. So it's not like all black voters in Pittsburgh flocked to him.

The media created this divide that wasn't nearly as bad as it is now. Personally, I don't care about any of it. Humans are humans. I am above all the crap out there, but I am the 1% that thinks that way. Enjoy BRO!
You wouldn't say this in real life... I like people like you who hide behind a computer...

Percent of the black vote going to Democrats for president:

The jump upward from 2004 to 2008 wasn't that huge, all things considered. The big shift happened in 1964, when the Republicans (e.g., Barry Goldwater) decided to openly embrace "state's rights." and the Dixiecrat base.

And we are about to see it again with the Latino vote. Should be interesting to see how this plays out for years to come.

This would be a more accurate telling

Bro? I am black and I do not hate anyone. I was not raised that way. Hate is a very strong word and it takes too much energy to hate someone. Black people are a very forgiving people. More so than any other race in this nation. I am too consumed with my career and family life and really don't have time to hate a whitey bro. I work and attend church with white people daily. My daughter plays soccer and dances in her high school musical with white children as well. Black people look after black people huh? Please elaborate and while doing so put it into context. Not too long ago this country was on the verge of calamity due to white people looking out for white people. You feel as if you are the enemy and your lack of self-esteem has nothing to do with black people, Mexican Americans or any other large minority in this country. I know you are scared of what the future may bring. One thing for sure America will never be GREAT again....bro.

Inaccurate, immeasurable, and bigoted, if not comical. All's well, and I am not one to start a war, but this is just the most ridiculous comment of the day.
