Other cool things in "Allegheny Center". Johnny Cash Day tickets for the September Elks event sold out in a couple of hours! For anybody not in the know; a local couple started honoring Cash's death about 10 years ago, first at their house and then at the now gone Vault coffee shop on California. It grew to a yearly event at the Elks on Cedar and now draws huge crowds. Live music, cheap drinks, even food. I stopped going some years back, too many people. Go get an Icey Ball yinz jagoffs before Gus and Yaya's closes for the season! He's getting old, who knows if he'll be able to do it much longer. The Aviary is awesome, as is the Children's Museum, check em aht! The Children's Museum has some sort of partnership with the city regarding the closed Allegheny Regional Branch (former CLP location) library and the building will not fall into private ownership supposedly, can't wait to see what they do with that place. The library opened in 1890, 5 years before Main in Oakland.

I love that park! Also it was a great place to play tennis back in my tennis days. There is something about that little area that is very pleasing. It is so close to the city, yet so green and the little lake is nice with the bridges. Not to mention the National Aviary is there.

Venture outdoor would rent kayaks for free on Thursday night on that lake. My wife didn't want him going kayaking because he refused to learn to swim. I would take him there while she was at work. I love that little lake
