There's been focus recently on the lack of civility on our subforum and how much it's changed over the past several years.

Eschaton had the interesting idea today of having the Neighborhood/Borough of the week thread to try to encourage more constructive conversation.

I was thinking it could also help us to be more civil to each other if we were able to put real faces to usernames - this idea just randomly popped into my head, but given how we all live in the same region: has the subforum ever held an in-person happy hour get-together? This could be one of my stupidest questions, or one of my most popular questions, I have no idea of the reception it will get but I did want to broach it. I know there are a few posters on here that I would be personally very curious to meet in person.

I do remember a few years ago someone making the suggestion, but not many people wanted to go beyond the posting that is done here and meet in person.

Yeah, there are people I would not mind meeting.

But there are two I do not want to cross paths with. Ever.
So I would not be taking the chance that they would be there....

I'd be up for a happy hour, provided I was/am back in Pittsburgh when it happens.

I don't post much in this Pittsburgh sub-forum, but, I do look and read it frequently.

As a member of several fora where I live, often attend happy hours and most of us know each other IRL and get along, even if we are "enemies" on-line.

Will not attend unless it's at Rigg's on Brighton Road. Get to see all the burbs guys squirm over the location.

Do you know the place? Like stepping back in time to what bars used to be, smoke and all. I remember Kelly's when it wasn't a hipster bar, Rigg's reminds me of that. Also, the bar scene in Wonderboys, that was the original Modern but that's what Rigg's looks like on the inside. Such a great dive.
