What arrogance she had saying that. I'm very happy Pitt won yesterday to quiet the elitist Penn state football crowd... for a little while at least.

2 reasons.
1: It`s an eyesore
2: It`s taking up a valuable piece of real estate
If it was in the suburbs people would still find Kenny Chesney and the Stillers.

Spoken like a non football fan.

It's a valuable asset sitting on a valuable piece of land.

They sure would find them and it being muphere with Lemieux's sports facility would be awesome, but the city needs every penny it can get, especially with the thin crowds at PNC right now...and the city will never let the Stillers go anywhere.

As for the topic of Pitt vs PSU, a huge amount of revenue came into da 'burgh yesterday because of it.

More or less equal but vastly different makups . PItt is a little harder to get into than PSU main, but not by that much. They both are good academic schools.

Main difference is the workaround at PSU.

If you kid wants to get a Pitt degree hes going to need very good grades to get accepted there. I personally went to Pitt but could not get in with todays standards.

PSU, you can have straight C's in High school and still get that PSU degree.

Reason is, while Pitt has a couple branch campus' that are easier to get in to, they are also their own entities. If you go 4 years at Pitt-Greensburg, you get a degree from Pitt-Greensburg.

You can GED your way into Penn State Mckeesport or Berhend or Altoona or one of their 50 campus' and even if you spend entire time in New Ken the degree is still indistinguishable from PSU main degree.

If education from one school to the other makes one feel better about the football programs, that could be debated for as long as each institution has been around...but I'll take an engineering degree at PSU all day long and you're not GED'ing your way into it.

Non PSU football fans should be happy that many PSU fans will never let the joepa era go. If they would support a coach and give him a clean slate to work with, the program could strive. Unfortunately, they may never let that happen.

Comparing main campus to main campus, Pitt has been somewhat more selective than PSU for quite some time--around a 50-70 point gap in median math plus critical reading SAT scores. Of course, Pitt lags somewhat behind PSU in USNWR rankings because PSU has a much stronger brand name.

Overall, the universities are on the same academic level. Obviously, PSU shines brighter in some programs than Pitt (and vice versa).

Exactly. It comes down to what degree you want and where you want to spend the 4/+ years getting it and then it comes down to what environment suits you.

The PG seems to think so too.

Funny how Penn State along with Alabama have such blah looking uniforms.

Actually they don't.

"Penn State's average attendance the last four seasons is 98,685, among the best in the country. But Beaver Stadium seats 107,000-plus and 9,000 empty seats per game costs the athletic department millions"
Penn State tries to move forward without abandoning Paterno
