We all know the truth, Paterno was a POS enabler and part of a ring of people who enabled and abetted the RAPE of kids over a long period of time. Their legacy is a SHAM and forever will be associated with these disgusting criminals.

Yeah, and again Paterno is dead, Sandusky is rotting in jail and everyone associated have nothing to do with the program or university.

Why are you bringing the issue up after 5 years other than defending Pitt vs PSU?

Yes I agree. The football program should have been dismantled. The only thing worse than a pedophile is someone who willfully turns a blind eye to it. May Joe rot in an eternal hell. Franco Harris can go to hell as well for standing up for the SOB.

I'm not on the crazy side of the fence that they should nuke the program.

But they are at fault for it not going away. Honoring paterno this week I think at the game? There are dozens of articles out there bashing the hell out of that decision, and not from pitt fans.

Every time it quiets down they do something like this, or franco gets caught making out with the joepa cutout in schenly park etc.

The problem with "moving on" from Paterno is that the university, especially the alum REFUSE to move ahead which is why they recently planned on honoring. At best, and this is being very generous it's tone deaf.

Joe wasn't a hero. He was the opposite. If he did the right thing decades ago, there would be no issues now. Many children would have been safe from Sandusky.

But he didn't do the right thing.

What the university can do is, stop honoring him, stop fighting their role in this. Accept it the responsibility. Be a little humble and move forward admitting what was wrong, not honoring it.

I don't think the program should die etc. but continued reading of the school not getting how terrible it acted is beyond ridiculous - any school, or organization - same with corporations, or the Catholic Church scandals.

It makes zero sense to dismantle a program no matter what university was involved because of what those who are either dead or still alive waiting for their death in a cell.

If you're going to close down every organization guilty of employing pedophiles who have been caught and punished you're in favor of closing down a lot of organizations. The only ones bringing this up after 5 years are non PSU vans trying to defend Pitt's less popular program.

Stop all sports and extracurriculars at Plum School District. See how well that goes.

The yellow seats stick out out at Heinz like a sore thumb, even during Steelers games. There are several reasons why people don't sit in them. Most prominently, the sight lines for some of the lower level seats are poor, and many people choose to move up higher and find a place to stand.

The crowd at the Pitt vs Penn State game was not 50/50. Penn State fans made up, at most, 25% of the crowd. It might look 50/50 in some sections and there were 4 sections in the upper end zone where many visiting fans buy tickets that had a lot of Penn State fans. Feel free to take a look at the megapixel photo and see for yourself.

Pitt can't fill up the stadium on a regular basis because it is simply too large for the fan base. The fan base isn't large enough to fill Heinz Field thanks to decades of incompetent/poor leadership from the University. The last two seasons is the first time in about 40 years where Pitt has placed an emphasis in having a successful football program, having a seemingly competent athletic director, and listening to the fans.

I have to say that despite all of the talk from Penn State fans before the game that they'd dominate the stands, the crowd sounded much more favorable to Pitt on TV at least.
