I was in Giant Eagle at Edgewood Towne Center when a young guy who worked there came up and asked if I had heard. I knew he had been sick. There sure aren't any like him around anymore.

We said goodbye to a true original today. He was a class act and will be missed.

He was one of the last of the originals. I can't think of anyone who even approaches his level today.

Default Reflective of the city he came from

So representative of the city from which he was from. A place he loved and truly helped along during the darkest economic days by bringing the Super Steelers into our lives. His teribble towel has become the calling card for Pittsburgh and the symbol of one of the largest fan based groups world wide. Myron lives !!

yoy yoy double yoy....An ambassador for the steel city. He'll be waving his terrible towel from the skybox up in heaven, as long as we keep the legacy of Myron and the Steelers going, he'll never be gone.

I just read this thread and got the news. Sad day for Pittsburgh, and those of us who can still hear his voice... Such great memories. It makes my commemorative Myron Cope Terrible Towel even more special!

And as I remember him signing off, "This is Myron Cope on sports."
