I didn't know he lived in O'Hara, but knew he was local. Ate a big mac a week and lived that old. Maybe that is the secrete?

How was the Big Mac so different from the Big Boy that it could really be seen as some breakthrough? Back when Eat n Park was a hamburger joint, they were selling Big Boys. This was way before the Big Mac came out.

They were not the same however. I of course had them both since Big Boy was in Harmerville with that cool statue. Wow, that was a long time ago. The Big Mac was better back then IMHO. Not the same but similar.

As with many products we know, and sometimes love, there is more to the story about the creation of the Big Mac than just this one man. We'll leave that to the lost history files.

Oh, bullcrap. He invented this sandwich to compete against big boy's sandwich and it was a huge success. He won and enjoyed it. Sorry others, you didn't get the prize, this man DID! Tough crap. No participation trophy this time. The money is in McDonalds. Oh and to celebrate, I am getting that huge big mac for a limited time only! Yep!

He basically tweaked something that already existed. A double decker hamburger with a thousand island based dressing.

I don't know - maybe the point was that the Big Mac was "fast food". Ordered, then immediately put on the customer's tray. Did Bob's Big Boy do that, or was that a sit down/give order to waitress thing?

Showing my age here. lol Big Boy was a sit down with wait staff very similar to an EatnPark. There was one in Harmerville where the Eat n Park used to be. If memory serves Big Boy was changed into an Eat n Park and they kept the sandwich for a little while and also the statue remained for a bit, but for some reason it wasn't allowed. I was a little kid and was bummed to see the statue go as well as the sandwich. I loved the Big Mac though and it was fast food. There was also the Big Wink, which was similar as well, but as a kid I liked the Big Mac best and I wasn't alone. They were all a little different, but close. Winky's was in Chiswick by the old roller skating rink. I ain't getting any younger!

Lets face it most foods are related to one and other. What the heck is a hot dog for example? That is about as German as it can get and is just another sausage.

You are definitely from Pittsburgh.

We used to go to the Eat' N Park in Monroeville. Not sure when it closed down, probably about the same time the Holiday House did. As a side note, some of my "hippie" friends would steal the window trays and use them to separate the seeds from their grass. Ah, the drugged mind.
