Default using a scooter to get around the city

Though I grew up in Western PA I've never lived in the city for an extended period of time. I'm looking at grad school at PITT and I'd like to know if yinz think using a 2 wheeled scooter that tops out at about 20-25 mph would be a simple way of getting around if I stay mostly within the oakland-squirrel hill-shadyside area

When I lived in Shadyside, I saw scooters of all kinds. However, I'm talking about two wheeled motor scooters of the 50cc kind. I also remember seeing scooters on the sidewalk that were motorized versions of what you see younger kids riding.

I am really tempted to get one too, but I don't I would end up saving that much gas vs. using a car. I will just keep on using my bike for short trips instead.

But if you don't own a car I would say go for it. You can ride an most roads in the city at 25-35mph without much problems.
