Default Apartments near Point Park University

Hey guys, I thought i could use some of your help. I'm most likely going to Point Park University this coming fall. Im from Erie, PA so I dont really know too much about Pittsburgh neighborhoods. I'm looking for suggestions on apartments near Point Park because me and my friend dont wana live in the dorms and pay more than you would for renting an apartment. Do you have any suggestions on any apartments near Point Park? thanks.

How much is dorm living at PPU? I imagine any apartments downtown will be quite expensive. You may be better off living in the dorms.

6000 a year is nothing. Assuming a year is 9 months in a school year, that wouldn't even be $700 a month. You won't find cheaper. Then again, I realize that as a dorm it's probably like paying $700 a month for a cubby whole. hehe.

I thought they recently set up little apartment efficiencies at PPU where the student's could live.

I looked at Washington Plaza while I was at Duquesne and knew a lot of Duquesne students in the building. They are nice enough, but I personally think are a bit expensive for what they are. And the regular patrons have been complaining that there are so many student's in the building now.

That would be okay for you I imagine. Hehe.

I don't have any suggestions to find cheaper in town because I doubt you'll be able to. I'm actually a big believer in living on campus in the dorms at least for a year. It's a major part of the college experience. I did it for two years.

guylocke has a good point. My DD lived in the dorms for two years at her first college, transferred this year and is living in an apt. with a guy friend, and misses the dorm atmosphere (though she'd never go back). However, if you really don't want the dorms, I have a suggestion for you. My brother lives in Moon Twp in some furnished apts on Moon-Clinton Rd. There seem to be a lot of students there. I don't know the name of them, but it is a smallish complex, so you could find it if you just drove down that road. There is a pizza parlor within walking distance.

You could try the Mount Washington area...that would be an easy commute. I have a friend that rents a carriage house up there for only $600/month.

PPU is in downtown...and very accessible via public transportation....so many neighborhoods could be an option for you really.
