Midway, PA
Hi everyone
Just looking at different areas as I'm hoping to move to Pittsburgh with in the next year or two and saw a nice house in Midway. However I'm not familiar with this area and was wondering if anyone can shed some light as to what this town is like.
I know Canonsburgh and I would consider it a good town but would find somewhere like Connellsville a bit too run down (or just perhaps a bit too rural) for my liking.
Thanks in advance of any advice

If Connellsville is too rural, forget about Midway. It's a very small town that is very rural. I don't think it is even really a town actually.

Thanks mister brewski
I guess I don’t mean rural, it's just that Connellsville was so far from a large hub (like Pittsburgh) and was getting very run down, but I grew up in the countryside and moved to a small village (pop:500/aprox). so I like the countryside but it's mainly safety I'd be concerned with. Things like going for a walk with my dog late at night or early in the morning. I wouldn’t like to be in fear of getting mugged or shot by some drug dealer.
Sorry for the confusion and I appreciate your advise.

In that case I'd definitely check it out. While being very rural, Midway is probably only about a 30-35 minute drive to downtown (non rush hour) and it is very safe. If you like a small, rural. quiet, and safe area, that's not that for from the city it might be worth checking out.

There's lots of areas around Pittsburgh that are rural, and yet are a short drive from downtown Pittsburgh. Don't limit yourself to Washington county. Take a look at the other surrounding counties.

Thanks Joe B
Yes I have already looked at properties in Greensburgh, Whitehall and in Canonsburgh and even though I like these areas (they all seem safe and quiet) the properties I looked at needed too much work for me to take on. I'm currently going to look at a property in Midway but I am very unfamiliar with the area and was worried that it may be an undesirable or unsafe area. I was wondering does anyone know if the rail tracks that are there are in use any more as I have only viewed the area on a map as of yet and noticed rail tracks running through the area or is this an old rail track?

The rail tracks were converted to a biking/walking trail. It's called The Panhandle Trail and runs from Weirton, WV to Rennerdale (near Carnegie) in PA.
