Alaska Airlines has announced service between SEA and CMH to start in March. So Columbus now meets all the requirements of the RFP.

If Amazon is true to their RFP, specifically their points about highway access, cost of living, quality of life, and positive transformative affect on the HQ2 city then I think IND, CMH, and PIT are all top contenders. PIT not so much for highways but we make up for it in higher education.

Geographically PIT has an advantage as it is closer to the east where they are needed most.

I just don't know about Pittsburgh's chances as part of me feels they want a city on the east coast, but one will never know unlil the decide to announce whenever that is.

Did't they mention something about a transportation system? How is Columbus meeting that requirement? Last time I checked they were still trying to figure out basic BRT routes.

I agree about being in the east, but I'm not sure it needs to be on or near the coast. All three cities are in the eastern time zone which I think is the key. Being in the eastern time zone allows for 3 more hours of business with Europe compared to Seattle. Two of Amazon's largest offices in Europe are in London and Dublin. This is where Pittsburgh has an advantage over IND and CMH because we will have nonstop service to London and Dublin is also a strong rumor.

The RFP says "Access to mass transit". Columbus of course has mass transit as does every large city. I didn't see where the RFP made preferences between different types of transit such as buses, BRT, LRT, etc. In fact it talks more about highways than mass transit and highways is where both CMH and IND have an advantage over PIT.

Indianapolis is in the eastern time zone as is Columbus.

My error, I confused this: "This is where Pittsburgh has an advantage over IND and CMH because we will have nonstop service to London and Dublin is also a strong rumor" with the time zones issue. But thanks for clarifying so discreetly.

Some predicted there'd be a shorter list this month, but this month is over. Maybe they are planning some sort of announcement on the 1 year anniversary?
