That's not a problem for Pittsburgh. In fact, Pittsburgh has sites that could make it a winner. What remains of the Civic Arena site. It's right behind downtown so it would integrate with the city as Amazon has hinted at its preference for an urban site. And Almono or renamed Hazelwood Green, a large plot of land beside the Monongahela would be an excellent riverside site with plenty of land.

Both sites are close to Pitt and CMU.

Seattle's is a bit better than Pittsburgh's. But at least Pittsburgh is top 10.

Rochester didn't make the cut.

How much do you think a trained, drug free regional workforce is going to influence their decision? I think that ends up being one of the most important factors. Rochester ranks high on that. People with graduate degrees make up a higher percentage of population in Rochester.
Not sure. Are the techies hooked on opioids too? Percentages are useful, but Amazon is looking at hard numbers. They aren't filling their positions as a percentage of the population. They want a hard number, 50,000. Considering Pittsburgh has twice the population, Pittsburgh has the hard numbers.

How much money is amazon really making anyways? The data centers are their bread and butter and not products they sale online.
Don't think that figures into the debate for now.

Let’s not kid ourselves. The number 1 reason is who is giving them the most breaks and cheap land that is easy to develop.
Pittsburgh is ready to go on that. Available land, not sure if Pittsburgh is giving it away, but that might help to win them.

The Rochester forum would probably be a great place to discuss Rochester.

It's not just tax breaks. Based on the RFP, there is a lot that is going into their consideration.

I see it, that of course tax incentives will matter, but it will be considerations with metros that offer to varying degrees what they require in the RFP.

No city offers everything, well at least not without serious tradeoffs.

Not only the civic arena site, but potentially a large portion of uptown could really work well for Amazon, that area appears to be ready to revitialize for real this time, and its a very centralized location with plenty of sites that could be available for development in the near future. the BRT is also planned to go right through the area, and Pittsburgh 3 largest Universities are all very close. The Strip District could also supply a lot of potential for nearby expansion, and fits Amazon's statement that they would like to make use of renovated spaces as well as new construction.

That is great news! Thanks for sharing.
That could be attractive for business, Amazon and beyond.

Great that this new service to Seattle is coming. I mentioned in an earlier post that Pittsburgh would be a great eastern hub for Alaska Airlines. They are very strong in the west and very sparse in the east. With the capacity available at our airport, it would make a good hub for them.

That is great news, hopefully Amazon knows

Don't want to see the lack of the flight sink Pittsburgh at this point. Seems odd to have Alaska Airlines this far east. But then again, Southwest is here also.

Didn't realize the airport was back up to that many nonstop destinations now - 68. Pittsburgh is I think blowing away the Ohio cities airports, in terms of destinations.
