Yes it does. The driver ran a stop sign. The officer wasn’t pulling the vehicle over “for no apparent reason”.

I certainly hope anyone that feels that the police should expect “repercussions” would be sure to tell that to each and every officer they see and meet up with.

Its sad but at the same damn time you cannot serial harrass members of your community and expect no repercussions.
Wow condoning murdering that 25 year old rookie that hasn't even been on the police force for a year, yet you are making such judgments like you did? Really? He pulled that many people over in a few months on the job? Not buying it, but the anti-police does run deep with some even if a murder by a career criminal was committed like this case. Wow, such hatred towards police. Crazy, but not surprising.

RIP Officer Shaw. We need more top notch cops to protect us from the career criminal types like that murder is. Wonder if he will get put to death? Surely life in prison is the minimum. His rap sheet is pretty huge as one would expect.

Keep in mind that this is a close knit community. My family members went to school with the fallen officer's family. It is a terrible thing that happened but they are not surprised. It has been the talk of the town.

I am keenly aware of the close-knit community. I went to high school at Valley and my parents own a business in town. I feel for the officer and his family. I also know there is a lot of work to be done in this town to build trust just as there is in many larger cities. Believe me, as a 10-year-old, I looked up to a young man who carries your last name.

I did not condone anyone. I simply stated another view point. This officer was known around town. I was not raised to hate. I was not allowed to use the word hate. Overly aggressive cops put other cops in danger as well. This happens from coast to coast. Respect is reciprocal.

Have any of you spent time one-on-one with a guy like the accused? gg, I have seen you comment in the past that people need role models and a place to go. This is exactly the situation one would look to avoid by giving young people an outlet and a chance at a future. I can’t imagine what it is like to grow up believing my only way out is a life of crime, but there is a significant portion of the population that believes just that because they are given few alternatives. I have witnessed this firsthand and am lucky to not be part of it myself.

This guy won’t see freedom ever again, but we really should be looking to determine what can be done to avoid situations like this in the future. Locking people up and not letting them out won’t do anything to correct the situation, as has been proven time and again.

Interesting and typical rationalizations. The fact is, however, that the cop got killed doing his job. He wasn’t pulling anyone over for “no apparent reason” or “being aggressive”.

Looks like they got the murderer's father as well.

Father of suspect in shooting death of Officer Shaw is taken into custody on unrelated charges

Well he was only on the police force for 5 months, so no one really knew him as a cop yet. 5 months isn't enough time to really even be judged on how he did on the job. A complete rookie.

Ah well, seems they are arresting a bunch of people from this including other family members, which is good. Hope they really beef up patrols in that area because I feel for the law abiding.

I just can't believe that there are actually people feeling good about this murder, but what can one do? I am just very disjointed anymore with city life. I don't really belong here anymore. Just a couple more years and I can move.
