It added a bunch of women's scholarships in sports that no one goes and sees, so the men's big basketball/football revenue is used in that manner. Now boys can only play two sports if they want to get a ride. All it really did was take away all other boy's sports. The shift went to the girls sports, so the boys pay for the girls. Nothing more.

Most no one went/goes to see any boys sports other than football and basketball.

There are other sports scholarships available, but there just aren’t as many of them as there were.

Congrats to Coach Stallings on wrapping up a "perfect" ACC regular season: 0-18 after a 17-point loss to Notre Dame tonight.

The result was a need to put far greater emphasis on women's sports than women were interested in. I've heard stories of rowing coaches scouring the campus for tall athletic girls for his team. It killed junior varsity sports to relieve the pressure for an equal number of girl athletes. It would help if the women sports were revenue raisers like football and men's basketball.

Did Notre Dame give members of the crowd and cheerleaders some playing time?

At least they kept it close. Nice job Pitt!!! Kudos to Coach Stallings on his "achievement". Hopefully, they can wrap of the "perfect" season with a one and done in the ACC Tournament.

First round ACC loss mercifully ends this season.

Interesting look at the state of Pitt hoops: https://deadspin.com/who-killed-pitt...all-1823270654

Pitt basketball’s descent began slowly, with the university’s decision to abandon the Big East for the ACC beginning with the 2013-14 season. The hiring of Kevin Stallings to replace Jamie Dixon as head coach in March 2016 effectively gave the program its final shove down the mountain.

Those are the only two sports that generate ANY money and only at the D-1 level. Should all non revenue producing sports be eliminated? Male and female? Who goes to watch men's cross country or fencing or bowling or archery? And at the D-2 and D-3 level we may as well eliminate all sports.
