I'm not saying that they can't; anything can happen, but I don't personally think a wild card is likely this year. There are just too many teams to leapfrog. They'd have to get on another hot streak like the 11 game win streak. The slide they had in June probably cost them that chance for this year.

I still think those trades were a good idea, though, because the players they got are not rentals. If they can hold together what they have, and perhaps make an upgrade or two they could easily contend for the next year or two. It won't be popular because he's such a well-liked player, but one area in need of an upgrade in the offseason would be 2B. JHay of 2018 is just not the same hitter as JHay in 2015 or so. He could be a solid bench player, though, especially given his position flexibility. That 10M option might well be a sticking point for this team, though. If they could find a better option in the offseason, JHay on the bench could allow them to finally get rid of SRod, and that in and of itself would improve the team.

They never should have brought him back, he is not a major league ballplayer.

Neal and Clint love SRod. Doesn’t look good for Neal to DFA a player he’s paying $5+m that nobody is going to pick up.

Cooler getting the last laugh, but he’ll still likely be here all season unless they hide him on the DL again.

Cubs scored 4 runs in 1st inning and I don't think the ball got out of the infield. That's why ya gotta love the game.

It’s often like watching Major League and the Bad News Bears at the same time with the Bucs.

It has been 39 yrs since the bucs last won & played in the world series (1979). Back then they were quite a team.

The bucs are 61-58 with 43 games remaining in the regular season. They are 8 games behind the first place cubs & 3 games from a wildcard spot. I believe they have a better chance @ a wildcard.
