In Boston it’s pretty safe. Obviously still a city but would these areas typically have people out and about at these times?

Yeah, if they want to be in the city, I was thinking the lower north side too.

I haven't gone to the north shore early morning but I'd be surprised if it was active. (It's where the sports stadiums are.) It's generally active if there are events or it's a pleasant weekend. Otherwise, it's surprisingly dead.

Before 10pm she should be fine, maybe later if she stays in we’ll lit areas. But honestly I would not be jogging alone between midnight and 5am just because drunks and some sketchy people exist. There’s some public housing around Allegheny center but haven’t heard of a lot of issues. Being cognizant of being in a city should make one careful enough to be fine otherwise.

A lot of office workers and golden triangle residents jog in the morning in the area. Nice wide walks and easy loop between the bridges and the point. If I lived downtown I’d jog along ft Duquesne blvd, Rachel Carson, north shore and ft Duquesne bridge, nice loop.

Do you guys think the North Shore (and/or North Side, I think they are the same?) is a better option for us than Lawrenceville? We may buy so I'd rather buy in an up and coming area that is sure to return ROI in a few years when we move again.

Rent for a year before you buy in either. Commutes can be tricky because of odd paths. Either may work, but both are good to rent in and enjoy the PIT nightlife.

We will only be in Pitt for two years, give or take a few months. Might just have to go for it.

No advice as to where to live, but as a runner she should meet up with this group. It’s nice to run with other people, introduces you to new restaurants, and new people. I haven’t ran marathons in years but still hang out with people I met in this group.
