I guess it makes sense. For coaster people, this looks like a good one.

Why not? Every year they play 8 (eight) games here.

Exactly. The only other logical choice would be the Pens. If it was a Pirates coaster it would only be successful 3/25 years.

What's wrong with the Steelers selling their brand? If Six Flags Over Texas built a Cowboys-themed roller coaster, then everybody in the mainstream sports media would be talking about what an awesome idea it is, and how great Jerry Jones is at selling his brand. But because it's a Steelers-themed roller coaster at Kennywood Park, it's met with eye rolls and "yinzers gonna yinz" instead.

And Nutting would want a percentage of the ticket sales.

No doubt about that.

Nothing wrong with it from a business perspective for the Steelers.

From a cultural perspective, it just gets old. So much of the local culture revolves around the Steelers, and so much of the local media focuses on them (even in the offseason) at the expense of everything else.

There are so many problems in this City and region that should be seriously discussed and have more attention paid to them, but instead the mindset here is "that's just the way things are, it's better than it was, Pixburgh is the bestest anywhere ever, now lets talk about Ryan Shazier or about James Harrison's comments regarding Mike Tomlin". It would be nice if attention was paid to things other than football.

Pretty much this. I understand the business logic at work here, and it will probably be a money maker for Kennywood and the Stillers.

I just get tired of the Steelers obsession around here. Outsiders visiting the city must think that all we do is watch the local team and talk about how "blue collar" we all are.
